Special  Art  --  Art teacher for this nine weeks is Ms. Grigalunas.  Jack was in sheer heaven!  Discussed Rene Magritte who drew fantasy and surreal art.  She had a display of a picture -- It was a train coming out of a fireplace.  The students drew pictures of their shoe w/ people in it (Little Old Woman who lived in a shoe...).

niknotes: Friday's Community Skills outing will include lunch at Wendy's and a trip to a pumpkin patch.
Last night after dinner, after he set the table so nicely, Jack wrote two books.  One was called My Tornado Saftey book which has little square drawings on each page representing the text -- just like the pictures that Mrs. Penoncello and Mrs. Bracy (Miss-Kris) both use for picture schedules or for social stories.  Mick's book I Like Me used the same simple drawings for the words.  For example, on Jack's first page, which I may photograph and put on the website because I think it's so cute, reads:  "Som times i hear a tornado at my house."  The drawings in three separate rectangles are: 1) a boy covering his ears with his hands, 2) a tornado, 3) a house.  Sean and I both love one later in the book, which represents "I don't think" and is the circle with a slash (which Jack calls a "splattered circle") over a boy with his finger against his temple. 
Sean had wanted Jack to write a "Home Book" with all the home rules in it, but Jack had other plans.
His second book of the night was when James get's mad obviously inspired by yesterday's story, When Sophie Gets Angry.  Jack's story is about James becoming mad when Jane Elizabeth takes away his baby doll.  They fight, and the doll flies through the air to land in the toy box among a teddy bear, train, and wind-up soldier.  Then James's head bursts into flames, then James breathes fire like a dragon, then James's body becomes flames.  Next, his body becomes a tornado, sucking things up, including Jane Elizabeth and "Mr. In-charge Man" and some dirt.  Finally, James apologizes for turning into a tornado, and he plays with a train while Jane Elizabeth plays with the teddy bear.
