niknotes: I tried to put the idea into his head
that being a 1st grader made him a big kid who would help the smaller ones ...
like a super-hero!
He still cried this morning when it was time to get on the
bus. Mr. Wheeler (Mr. Don) gave Jack a tissue to wipe his tears, and then
Jack stopped resisting and turned to find his seat.
Once he got home, he told me there are three other
students in his class, including a girl named Emily and a boy named Alex who he
says is not the same Alex from last year but a new Alex with black hair, brown
eyes, and who is brown and peach all over. (?)
His time-out worksheet was a mouse that Jack colored brown
with a speech bubble that Jack filled in with "I'm sorry!" He said he had
a bad day at school because Alex had to sit in time out for saying mean
words. I wonder, since there's no mention of Jack's going to time-out, if
Jack felt bad for Alex or if the mean words were directed at Jack. I
couldn't get a straight answer.
