Teacher comments:  Another great day!!

niknotes:  I was surprised, relieved, and pleased that Mick did not burst into tears as soon as the school was in sight this morning.  We arrived about five minutes early so I let Mick sit in the front seat beside me, and he was so calm.  When Miss Kris tapped on his window, he smiled and said, "Hey!" in his sweet, little drawl.  She opened his door, and he removed his backpack (which I handed to Miss Kris) and then climbed out to take her hand.  She asked him if he wanted to say bye to me, and he said, "Goodbye, see you later," as they walked over to join Matthew and Miss Debbie heading into the building.  He didn't even look back today.
He threw a tantrum, actually, when I showed up this afternoon and volunteered rather than repeated a greeting.  Miss Debbie assured me that he had been asking for "the green car," meaning our James Camry.  He was exhausted again.  He ate a piece of pizza and is now napping, as is Jack (which is bizarre).

By the way, the "attached sheet" contains lyrics for the song they sang, to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell," if you'd care to know them:

It's time to go back to school.  It's time to go back to school.
The children come in buses and cars.  It's time to go back to school.

(same format for all verses)
The teacher says hello ... She gives the kids a great big hug ...

The children work and play ... They have a good time all day long ...

And then it's time to go ... Buses and cars take us home ...

After I dropped off Mick, I went to Target looking for another clear backpack like the one I bought for Mick but gave to Jack (before Kroger ran out of them), but I didn't like the choices at Target.  I did, however, buy myself a pair of reading glasses to help encourage Mick to wear his spectacles.  And they were on clearance, half-price, so even if it's a complete failure as a tactic, I can just keep them and use them now or save them until I really need them.  They're only 1.25 strength, anyway.  I have to say that my hour and a half STROLL through Target was so relaxing, with not having to keep up with and constantly watch or entertain two little boys.  If Jack and Mick had been with me, I am pretty sure I would have missed the Clearance shelves altogether and ended up paying double for the reading glasses, having to head straight to the glasses aisle at a sprint and NO BROWSING!
