niknotes: As soon as I picked up his backpack this
morning, Mick grabbed my hand and nearly dragged me out of the house, down the
front steps, and to the green car. Apparently he likes school. Miss
Debbie greeted us at the curb and took Mick, wearing his glasses, inside.
She had tried to make a detour toward the buses, telling Mick they were going to
get Matthew, but he screamed and rapidly stomped his feet. She took him
through the double-doors as he was used to. I don't know what happened
after that. Somebody brought Matthew inside eventually. And this
afternoon, Miss Debbie was introducing Mick to all the bus drivers who were
lined up in front of the school, to get him a little more comfortable across the
school bus threshold. He loves to look but not touch and certainly not
board ... at this point. He seemed happy to be just inside the bus on Miss
Debbie's hip, though. AND Mr. Don, Jack's bus driver was first in
line! I don't know if he'll end up as Mick's driver or not, but that is
something to hope for. Mostly, I was shocked to see Mick's glasses on his
little face. He wore them all the way home, too. Miss Kris said he
may have just been too busy today to think about removing them.
Excellent. Now he's having a Pop Tart for his after-school
snack.
