niknotes: The principal, Mrs. Doblar,
sent home the following letter:
Dear Parents,
You may hear from your child this evening that our
school held a fire drill and was visited by the fire department today. I
know that you, as an involved parent, would want to have the facts so you
wouldn't worry.
This morning, construction workers were sawing
concrete in the addition. The school's air intake system drew the dust
into Mrs. Walker's classroom, then into the hallway. As a precaution, we
evacuated the building. The firemen came and, along with our maintenance
department, reversed the air flow, clearing the dust in just a few
minutes. Mrs. Walker and four children who were in the room at the time
were checked by emergency personnel to be sure that they were all right.
We contacted the parents of theses students so they would be aware of the
incident and assured their child was fine.
I do not anticipate any further problems of this
kind. In the future, this type of construction work will not be done
during the school day. I do want to applaud our students and teachers
who did a great job evacuating the building. After this brief
interruption, all of our students were able to go back to class and finish the
school day.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Doblar
Principal

write a note to the kids. I drew a little train for Mick and wrote "I love
you" on it. Mick seems to like it. I stuck a magnet on the back,
after the teachers laminated it and sent it home. So now Mick can keep it
