Mick has renamed the four of us (his immediate family) as characters from the
singing vegetable portion of his "Wee Sing Train" video. Jack doesn't
want to be called "Carrot." Da is "Broccoli," and I am
"Po-tah-to." The fourth vegetable is actually a red beet, but Mick has
chosen to be called "Apple." I guess he doesn't really know what a beet
is, maybe, and he knows apples look round and red like the beet puppet.
Maybe he just wants to be called "Apple" for some other reason. It was
probably more a result of the Apples unit in class than Gwyneth Paltrow's baby,
Apple, but I thought the coincidence was funny. He really does insist,
though: "My name is Apple Dullaghan. Hi, Po-tah-to, say,
'Hi, sweet, little Apple.' "
Speech News

Group lesson: The class participated in the cooking
lesson "Making cheese toast." We identified the items needed and separated
them into "cooking items" and "food items." We read & followed
directions. We answered yes-no and wh- questions. We learned how to
use a toaster oven. Most importantly, we enjoyed what we made!
