Teacher Comments: * Lynn & I have both noticed
that Mick is very coordinated & seems to be pretty athletic
(especially compared to a lot of kids in his mainstream
class). He also follows directions well at P.E. time.
[smiley]
niknotes: I can't tell you how happy I am to
hear that! I have tears in my eyes -- not kidding. That is
completely wonderful to hear! Thank You! Maybe we should go ahead
& try him at karate. He always wants to go w/ Jack to "dance" while we
watch the karate class. Maybe he's destined for musical theater. Not
sure how enthusiastic Sean would be at the thought. I'm sure he'd be
supportive.
After school today, Mick asked for the
can opener so he could open a can of soup (which actually had a pull tab --
Jack's chicken noodle soup), but I let him open a can of tuna, and he needed
very little help from me!

Teacher Comments: Mick would probably
love karate!
niknotes: American Kenpo Karate has a
Junior Tigers program for younger kids, too! Once we figure out the
tuition obstacle, we'll have to let him try it. It's the class Robert
(Mick's classmate who was Jack's classmate last year) is in. Nice for Mick
to have a friend there.
Re: Music -- Bear Hunt was Mick's favorite
story in pre-K. He still recites passages!
Re: Lunch -- That's a Mick lunch, for
sure! He's particular about cookies, though. He does love
Oreos.

nuggets, fries, ketchup, & chocolate milk.]

2 - 2:30
Other -- Calendar
niknotes: Mick had a practice answer sheet
in his folder today, practice for bubbling in the multiple choice bubbles for
the standardized tests. I don't know if the sheet was meant to be given in
a different month, because one of the questions was "this month's holiday" and
Labor Day was not a choice. I had to ask when Earth Day is, though.
I think it's in the spring, but that was the only one I didn't
know.

Teacher Comments: Earth Day is April 22. We
also had to look it up.
niknotes: I was surprised to learn he ate so little
lunch, because he didn't want much dinner either, but I had forgotten that
although he didn't get his regular after school snack because I
snatched the boys from the bus and shoved them straight into the car for
errands, he did actually eat lots of Oreos in the car on the way home from
Wal-Mart. Very nutritious, I know.

niknotes: Mick took his stuffed Gromit
for Show & Tell. I wonder how much detail he gave about him, or if he
only told his name.
Also, speaking of Calendar, not that we were
exactly, I WISH Mick had even the faintest concept of months following each
other because he has been driving us crazy asking to "go Christmas tree and ride
the train." We keep telling him it's closed until December, but he seems
to think that we can just stop by some place called December first, and then go
ride the train at the Christmas tree (farm). He asks many times
daily.
